Landscapes have just been awarded a contract to
build a large country garden with a twist in the
heart of the Cotswolds. The designer of the gardens
is Fernando Caruncho, who brings elements of Moorish
and Arabic gardens into his contemporary designs.
He has had many gardens built in Spain and in
other countries but this is the first to be built
in the UK. Liz Nicholson has been out to his Madrid
office to talk through the plans and to see his
work before building the garden.
“We are very excited about starting this
new project with its Spanish influence”
said Liz. “We are looking forward to working
with Fernando to deliver a truly unique garden
in this beautiful location.”
The
garden will be terraced around the main house
with pools and fountains and wide views over the
valley below. The terraces feature many pebble
mosaic panels and flights of sawn stone steps.
Several
ornamental pools will be built with stone fountains
in the middle. The whole house has been refurbished
inside and out and the gardens will add the finishing
touch to this Cotswold escape.
Work
starts on the garden in February with woodland
planting and bridges around the existing lake
and the re-surfacing of the tennis court. Work
to the main garden will follow this into the summer.
