Christmas Market

For two days in December Nicholsons hosted its first continental-style “Street Market”, with more than forty artisans offering an amazing and diverse range of locally-produced arts, crafts and food products. There was a professional portrait photographer on site as well, offering visitors the opportunity of having a new family photo taken in time for Christmas.

The event was a huge success, with hundreds of visitors calling in over the two days. Many came not only to enjoy the atmosphere and explore the Market, but also to collect their Christmas tree or buy that "special present" from the range in our Plant Centre shop. While the market may have been and gone, it is still not too late to pick up one of our splendid "needle-fast" Christmas trees, or choose one of our hand-made door wreaths, swags and table decorations, available in four distinctive styles:

• Traditional holly/pine cone
• Countryside fruit and nut
• Eucalyptus and lavender
• Contemporary dark blue/silver.

These can be ordered in advance or chosen from a wide selection on display in our shop.

If you did miss the Market, then make a note for next year, when we hope to stage another similar event. There were plenty of activities and attractions for children, including riding with Santa in his horse and cart, or playing Pin the Nose on Rudolph and decorating Christmas biscuits. There was live music and all-day refreshments, with offerings ranging from mulled wine and mince pies, through hot soup and flan, to home-baked cakes - not forgetting roasted chestnuts!

Opening Times

The Plant Centre is open weekdays 7:30 am to 4 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm until Christmas. Closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Plant Centre will also be open on Saturdays in March, April and May, but please note the revised opening times of 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Nicholsons Firewood

Visit our dedicated website by clicking here to find out more about our Firewood service, supplying seasoned hardwood logs sourced from local woodlands. All logs are ready-split and cut to manageable sizes, stored and dried in special mesh-sided bags and ready to bring that much-needed seasonal warmth.

Delivery Charges for logs and Christmas trees are:

• 0-10 mile radius of North Aston - £10.00
• 10-20 mile radius of North Aston - £15.00

There are set delivery days weekly. To arrange delivery please ask in the Plant Centre or call 01869 340342 and speak to Shirley. All prices include VAT.

Christmas trees and firewood can be supplied to customers throughout Oxfordshire, and we are also happy to extend this to neighbouring counties, including Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire.
